Oak truss extension

Headington, Oxford

The brief for this project was to improve the overall feel and usage of the house, as well as providing additional bedrooms and larger Kitchen. A few options were developed alongside the client, with the chosen scheme being one that turned the usage of the house around.

What was a dark bathroom and bedroom area became a new open plan Kitchen area that linked with the existing Living Room. Part of the house was then extended to allow all the bedrooms to be located away from the more social rooms (Kitchen & Living Room).

By opening up the original ceiling space, the Kitchen now has a wonderful light filled space with oak truss and glazed gable leading into the garden.

The work to the house also included rebuilding part of the original stone wall alongside the road. The client & builder were pleased to be awarded ‘The Enhancement Award’ from the Friends of Old Headington for the quality of the stonework fronting the road.
